It's bedtime and time to sleep...
Sleep for little one's are so important. This is the time where their little minds can go to work to process everything that they experienced during the day. It is a tremendous time for processing, growth and expansion.
Kids have such busy days, learning, experiencing the world and stimulation comes from every angle...so when it comes to going to sleep, it is difficult to shut down.
Of course there are many ways to assist kids to reduce stimulation before bedtime and in our busy lives these techniques sometimes go out the window. Sometimes techniques work one day and then don't the other. When this happens we tend to change tactic and again re-introduce the technique at a later date. Some of my tried and tested techniques (that very often get re-introduced as they wear off) include:

Of course there are many ways to assist kids to reduce stimulation before bedtime and in our busy lives these techniques sometimes go out the window. Sometimes techniques work one day and then don't the other. When this happens we tend to change tactic and again re-introduce the technique at a later date. Some of my tried and tested techniques (that very often get re-introduced as they wear off) include:
- dimming the lights about an hour before bed;
- having a set evening routine (eat, bath, brush teeth, story time, sleep);
- kids guided meditation tracks;
- magnesium salt in the bedtime bath;
- story time before bed.
These are all great ways of getting kids bedtime-ready. However, sometimes these techniques just don't cut it. When this happens, I know that my little one needs some energy work to get all of that over-stimulation out of his system as well as mine. So I go to work to help him calm down using Emotional Freedom Techniques or Energy Healing work like Spinal Tapping (a technique taught in my KiddyTap course).
